The Federal Government recently Approved ₦75,000 Stipend for Nigerians, including loans & Grants, to encourage and attract more students to pursue degree programmes in Education in public universities across the country.
According to the minister of Education, students undergoing B.Ed, B.A. Ed, or B.Sc. Ed programmes in public institutions will receive a stipend of ₦75,000 per semester.
The policy has been widely applauded by stakeholders in the education sector, who described it as a welcome development and a boost to the quality of Education in the country.
The president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, commended the federal government, saying it would motivate more students to study Education and address the shortage of qualified teachers in the country.
The national president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) also praised the federal government for the policy, saying it would reduce the financial burden on students and their parents and enhance their academic performance.
The policy is expected to benefit thousands of students in public universities and colleges of Education nationwide and improve the standard and status of the teaching profession in Nigeria.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants under the scheme will be graduates of Nigeria Polytechnics and Universities:
- BSc/HND/ or it is equivalent);
- National Youth Service Certificate (NYSC) discharge or exemption certificate;
- Not more than ten years post-NYSC
