Position Highlights
The Graduate College is seeking applications for a Student Academic Specialist (Student Services Administration Professional I). The person holding this position will perform duties in the Graduate Student Academic Services (GSAS) section of the Graduate College and report to the GSAS Director.
The incumbent in this role will track students’ academic progress and completion of degree requirements, as well as consult with academic program coordinators, directors of graduate studies, professors, and other campus partners to ensure compliance with University and Graduate College policies and procedures. This is a fast-paced, collaborative work environment that requires attention to detail as well as efficient and effective communication.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Respond to in person, phone, Zoom, and email inquiries from students, faculty, and staff in a timely and professional manner.
- Review forms submitted by students in the GradPath system to document completion of steps to earn degrees.
- Clarify policies and procedures for students and departments.
- Maintain accurate student records.
- Review formatting of dissertations and theses submitted for archiving.
- Assist with Commencement (Graduation) activities, including creating and proofing graduate student portion of Commencement program.
- Assist with workshops designed to train new personnel working with graduate students.
- Lead orientations to incoming graduate students.
- Perform user acceptance testing of job-related software.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Computer skills, including MS Office.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Team player with a positive attitude (be willing to collaborate with and assist others).
- Self-starter with strong work ethic.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to area of assignment and 1 year of relevant work experience;
- OR 5 years of clerical or related experience which includes two years of experience evaluating credentials or working with academic and graduation policies;
- OR any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education.
