The Role

SPM Oil & Gas currently has an opening for a Field Operations Technician located in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The Field Operations Technician provides installation of Flowline Safety Restraints (FSR) on customer locations and assists in the flow iron shop as needed. Training is available for the right candidate that is mechanically inclined and willing to learn.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform both rig up and rig down operations of safety restraints on oilfield piping
• Execute torque procedures on API flange connections
• Perform field greasing procedures for valves, swivels, and Large Bore product line
• Provide visual inspection of safety restraints
• Carry out inventory responsibilities for safety restraint system
• Perform safety and risk assessments and location-based safety protocols as required
• Provide Iron Inspection responsibilities if necessary
• Have basic understanding of SPM Products as well as other oilfield pressure pumping equipment
• Ensures proper care and maintenance of tools, trucks, trailers, and equipment at all times
• Perform other duties as requested
• Training will be available to place the right candidate in this role

Required Background / Skills:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Fluency in English (read, write, comprehend)

Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems

Must have mechanical aptitude

Clean driver’s abstract and a minimum class 5 license.

Flexibility to handle 24-hour call to respond to customer needs which includes overnight in hotel/ camp as required.

Shop hours may be required

Field tickets would be considered an asset

Conflict-solving skills, including managing difficult customer situations.

Observe safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines;
