What Can I Expect to Do in This Role?
In this role, you will:
- Direct, supervise and perform a variety of maintenance tasks
- Perform maintenance (changing fluids, lubricating, making adjustments to components)
- Operate a remote airport facility including airstrip, airport buildings and equipment
- Supervise the construction and repairs of runways, roads, fencing and brush clearing
How Do I Qualify?
Mandatory
- You possess or have the ability to obtain a Restricted Radio Telephone Operator Certificate (air).
- You possess or have the ability to obtain a DZ Licence.
- Successful candidates must have secured living accommodations with approval of Chief and Council
Equipment Operation Skills
- You can operate heavy equipment (packer, bulldozer, loader, grader, and dump truck).
- You can operate small equipment (chainsaw, welder, circular saw, drill press, and grinder).
Technical Knowledge
- You know airport operations and maintenance procedures.
- You know and have experience making minor repairs to buildings and utilities.
- You know health and safety practices.
Technical Skills
- You can repair and service equipment.
- You can maintain equipment and tires.
- You have basic computer skills in order to perform daily administrative duties in order to record, document and track required data (examples can be but not limited to runway condition reporting, fuel and lubricant usage reports, requisitioning materials and equipment parts, labour and equipment time sheets).
Leadership Skills
- You have decision-making abilities.
- You have public relations and communication skills.
- You have good supervisory and administrative skills.
- You have work planning and organizational skills.
