Start Date: 08/29/2022

Status: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am-3:00 pm, evening and weekend shifts occasionally

Wage: $13.95/hr

Location: NSCC – Ivany Campus, Dartmouth NS

Important Information: Previous experience as a grill cook is an asset. Must be available to work evening and weekend shifts on occasion.

Job Summary

Considered a Line Cook responsible for running the grill operations. Prepares food and serves customers at the grill station in accordance with current applicable corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers, and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
• Prepare items for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing, or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning, and/or marinating.
• Use established ticket-collection procedures during service. Responsible for records from area worked during service periods.
• Comply with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures.
• Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range, and refrigeration equipment.
• Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes.

Qualifications:

• Two years working experience as a grill cook or in kitchen preparation and cooking.
• FoodSafe Level 1 Certification.
• Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
