JOB SUMMARY:
The Inside Sales Associate/Back-up Driver will act as a Sales Associate for the retail store by selling products to businesses and industrial customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Sells industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding supplies, and related equipment to customers.
  • Solicits sales with existing and potential customers and handles all associated paperwork to document those sales, quotes, or other information which may need recording for future reference.
  • Arranges for delivery of cylinders and hard goods and maintain showroom displays.
  • Assists customers with merchandise and loading and unloading cylinders.
  • Demonstrates use of equipment and advises customers on equipment and materials needed and procedures to follow to complete tasks they wish to perform.
  • Establish and maintain good customer relations and answers customer questions.
  • Communicate in person and on the telephone with customers, providing information on cost, ordering and delivery times.
  • Monitor customer’s needs and work with them to maintain proper hardgood and cylinder levels to minimize or eliminate emergency deliveries.
  • Check accounts receivable status of accounts; talk with the salesman or credit department about past-due accounts and contact customers regarding payment as well as collect money as required.
  • Ensure all required paperwork is accurately completed; including coding, costing and pricing.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and professional personal appearance.
  • Coordinate with purchasing department any product shortage or outages.
  • Ensure all administrative and accounting related procedures are strictly observed.
  • Ensure all safety rules are strictly observed.
  • Deliver products to businesses, industrial, and medical gas customers intermittently

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform as Backup Driver as needed.
  • Operate forklift and other equipment as required.
  • Assist with inventory, housekeeping, showroom displays, and demonstrations as required.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

– High school diploma or equivalent – 1+ years of Customer Service or Sales experience – Must be at least 21 years old – Must possess a Class A or B CDL with HazMat, or ability to get appropriate license and endorsements within 30 days. – Industry experience or related product knowledge as well as experience handling compressed gases preferred – Computer experience or basic knowledge in computer order entry system.

The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and move more than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision.

Physical Demands/Requirements for Driver: –

The USES category for this position is rated as very heavy. – Ability to perform very heavy work’routinely lift 25 to 75 lb., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lb. Also required to push and pull liquid containers weighing up to 1000 pounds. – While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit while making deliveries; use hands to finger, handle, or feel while making deliveries; reach with hands and arms; talk to or hear customers; and smell leaking gas from cylinders. – Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, feeling and repetitive motion required. – The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, kneel, push, pull, and finger activities including the tightening of ratchet binders. – Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school degree or the equivalent and one to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the Company.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
