The Root Cellar Village Green Grocer is your fresh & innovative destination market for extraordinary food experiences.
We are a market amongst many, but our business model stands alone by providing an experiential shopping atmosphere driven by a passion for sustainability and a locally focused purchasing philosophy. We are a family business, founded in 2008 with a firm stance behind our motto ‘farm fresh, dirt cheap, delicious and a drive to brighten every customer’s day has resulted in our little market becoming a bustling community hub, now providing Vancouver Island’s largest selection of organic, local and conventional produce, a full-service butcher and deli, a boutique florist and garden center, artisanal grocery, dairy & bread, a bulk foods section and most recently a new coffee bar, bringing us to over 10,000 square feet, buzzing with over 120 employees.
THE ROLE
The Root Cellar is hiring a Full-Time Cashier who is passionate about customer service and great local food to join our Front-End Team! Previous experience in a cash-handling retail environment is an asset, but we are willing to train the right person with the right attitude.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Provide superior customer service to exceed customer needs
• Connect with our customers through great local food
• Work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Efficiently process cash, debit, and credit transactions
• Bag customer purchases with care
• Maintain a clean and tidy work area
• Perform a variety of cleaning tasks
• Remain aware of store products, changes, and seasonal requirements
• Work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, and weekends

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE COMES EQUIPPED WITH:

• Previous cash-handling experience in retail
• A passion for customer service and teamwork
• An appreciation for great locally-sourced food
• Full-time availability
• The ability to lift 50lbs repeatedly
• Positive attitude, punctuality, and a solid work ethic
• Excellent communication and time management skills

THE DETAILS:
This is a full-time position commencing promptly. This role is entitled to competitive wages, a culture of Teamwork, Collaboration & Continuous learning. As well as a 20% In-store discount on purchases.
