Part-Time Contract to March 31, 2023

Do you have a passion for working with children, youth, and adults with Autism and want to empower individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families to fully participate in their communities? If so, we encourage you to apply.

The Role:

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Social Skills Worker supports Skill Building Groups for individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder within the Social Skills Group Services programs. Programs run in Centre and remotely.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Work in conjunction with the Social Skills Facilitator to support the implementation of a specified Social Skills curriculum for a group of children, adolescents, and/or adults
  • Prepare and implement targeted activities
  • Participate in group preparation (including room set up, materials preparation, etc.)
  • Provide individualized support to participants wherever necessary
  • Complete client-related documentation and administrative duties.

Successful candidates will bring the following:

  • Recognized University/College education in a relevant discipline – completed or working towards completion
  • Experience in supporting individuals with ASDs and understanding of principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis
  • Ability to support, de-escalate, and demonstrate understanding of group needs
  • Experience with managing challenging behaviours
  • Experience implementing crisis management techniques (CPI)
  • Prepared to work in a structured environment
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated teamwork, cooperation, and a willingness to learn
  • Satisfactory current Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check
  • Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.

Working Conditions:

  • Evening and weekends
  • Remote and/or in-center services

Salary: $16.00 to $18.00/hr +4% vacation pay
