Job Description
Under the general direction of the Cable Installation Manager, the Aerial Lineman is responsible for providing manual labour to construction field service crews.
Responsibilities
- When required and if appropriately licensed and authorized, drive or operate construction equipment used on the jobsite to complete daily work assignments
- Clean and maintain all company vehicles and equipment assigned for use
- Understand how bucket truck operates
- Able to read construction plans
- Determine cable lengths and complete precons for appropriate reporting and sign-offs
- Complete and adjust redline drawings accordingly
- Assist in placing aerial cables:
- Place cables and multiports
- Lash cables, mulitports and regular spiderweb or PSP cables
- Place hardware, install mulitports, and use lasher properly
- Record footage to place in production reports
- Assist in placing hardware:
- Hang strand and fibre/cable via a boom truck and/or pole climbing
- Install anchors
- Place hardware properly, including bolts and associated hardware, to attach it to a single pole
- Complete production reports for submission to clients
- Complete timesheets that are both accurate and timely
- Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential
- Enhance Organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment
- Adhere to and promotes the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Qualifications
- 1+ year of construction experience
- Capable of working in all temperatures and climates and in confined spaces
- Ability to travel to various site-based projects if required
Working Conditions
- Physically demanding workload
- Work location: Work in locations that preclude the ability to return home
- Work hours: Shift work
- Traveling is required
Minimum Education
Preferred Degree or Type
High School Diploma
Required Certifications & Licenses
Training on bucket safety and working aloft
Valid Class 1, 3, or 5 Driver’s License
Valid Air Brakes Endorsement (Q)
Aerial Work Platform an asset
