Job Summary
Travel Required: Up to 30%
As Safety Director, you will be responsible for implementing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) processes, conducting risk analysis and mitigation procedures, and defining and coordinating training programs for real estate facilities services and dining operations. Specifically, you will be responsible for reducing incidents, lost time injuries, and claims by providing HSE support to business and operational units in a $50M Compass account. You will develop and recommend new procedures and approaches to safety based on reports of incidents and other available data, as well as performing and leveraging benchmarking and best practices across Compass Group and other industries. This position will support a large flagship client account with facility operations and food services in the US, Canada, and GOM and will have multiple direct and indirect reports.
Key Responsibilities:
Develops and implements a comprehensive HSE management system to promote a proactive safety culture which is continually improving, across all sites of the account. Provides HSE guidelines and standards.
Leads the implementation of an HSE program that promotes management and employee commitment to safety, healthy behaviors, and care for the environment, providing training, education, and reinforcement of policies and procedures.
Carries out initiatives to control and mitigate HSE hazards through robust task-risk assessment methodology to include pre-task planning, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Method of Procedures (MOP’s), Management of Change (MOC), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Permit-to-Work processes.
Ensure that units have effective “ongoing” safety awareness programs to promote a safe work environment. Provide incentive programs to increase awareness for management and employees.
Analyzes status reports
Demonstrates visible presence in the field
Ensure that Compass Group facilities comply with OSHA and other state and federal standards through facility inspection.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred. Occupational Health and Safety Technologist(OHST) certification preferred.
- Safety Trained Supervisor preferred.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- JHA/JSA/Permit to Work experience.
- Background in accident prevention.
- Experience in implementing a variety of occupational health and safety programs.
- Experience conducting investigations and evaluations.
- Experience in evaluating cost and risk factors.
- Experience interpreting and applying a variety of laws, rules, and regulations.
- Experience in making presentations before a variety of groups.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Ability to work well with internal and external business partners, including the Compass Sectors, Compass human resources professionals, Compass benefits professionals, TPAs, and external defense counsel.
